The 2006 NBA Draft. Our list updated as of April 17, 2006. …By Bobby Gerould – Rocklin, CA. …As is always the case - our NBA Draft list will change many times before selection day in June. I start concentrating more on international players once the NCAA Tournament is complete. I have logged stats for over 700 non-professional players. The resulting list of my top 100 is based on ‘adjusted efficiency’, relative to a player’s future pro position, only. Further lists will include more of my own common-sense, and feel.  …The list below is of Seniors only – and those who have declared (as of April 17) for the 2006 NBA Draft.  It also includes a few international players who were in last year’s draft before pulling out.

  1. Tyrus Thomas – LSU. Game changing shot blocking ability combined with floor running skills make Thomas number one.
  2. Shelden Williams – Duke. He will most likely be moved down by younger players who announce they are coming out. NBADraft.net ranks him 14th.
  3. Paul Millsap – Louisiana Tech. The best rebounder in college hoops. NBADraft.net ranks him 25th.
  4. Rudy Fernandez – Spain. It is rare when I see a guard with the efficiency of this Spanish MVP. NBADraft.net ranks him 23rd.
  5. Nick Fazekas – Nevada. Upper body moves faster than his 7’0” frame. Good hand-eye athletic sense. NBADraft.net ranks him 40th.
  6. Yemi Nicholson – Denver. 6’11” Center is a late bloomer. Does he have the desire to be a great player?
  7. LeMarcus Aldridge – Texas. Right handed big man has big upside.
  8. J.P. Batista – Gonzaga. Is he really any better than Lonny Baxter? NBADraft.net ranks him 58th.
  9. Michael Southall – Louisiana Lafayette. Little known guy played two years of college ball and did jail time. Shot blocker is 6’10”.

  31. Aaron Gray – Pittsburgh. Space eater can really rebound. He has a long way to go otherwise. NBADraft.net ranks him 22nd.
  32. Josh Boone – Connecticut. Junior from Connecticut runs the floor and blocks shots. More turnovers than assists. Also 26th by NBADraft.net

  34. Richard Roby – Colorado. This cat has explosion in his game. A nice guard that will rise on charts. NBADraft.net ranks him 20th.
  35. Jamaal Williams – Washington. He reminds me of Michael Finley a bit. He’ll need to hit more jump shots in the NBA.

  5. Daniel Kickert – St. Mary’s. Aussie may not be quick enough for the NBA. He can play offense though.
  6. Matt Haryasz – Stanford. He perplexes me. He can dominate at times or look really amateur. NBADraft.net ranks him 48th.
