BasslineSpin.com Sweet 16

16 players to watch now that the NCAA 2006 Tournament field has been quartered. There is more to basketball than scoring.

One – Tyrus Thomas. LSU …6’9 freshman Power Forward is the most efficient player in college ball. He blocks shots, and energizes the Tigers.

Two. Joakim Noah. Florida …6’11” Center runs the floor with enthusiasm. Rising rapidly on my charts.

Three. Shelden Williams. Duke …6’9” Blue Devils pivot is the ACC’s leading shot blocker. In our opinion he is Duke’s MVP.

Four. Patrick O’Bryant. Bradley. 7’0” Center is growing offensively. He is coordinated and skilled leading us to believe he has a major upside. Just a sophomore – he has the Bradley Braves in the Sweet 16 for the first time since the 50’s!

Five. Josh McRoberts. Duke. 6’10” 230 lb. freshman has ball handling skills to go with a great feel for the game. Last year – he was the National High School Player of the Year.

Six. Glen Davis. LSU …The guy is listed at 6’9” 310 lbs but he moves his feet like a break dancer. He is shooting 51% FG for his career at LSU.

Seven. Jeff Adrien. Connecticut. 6’6” power player is just another one of Jim Calhoun’s weapons on the Huskies bench. Our efficiency charting indicates major hero status is on the way for this kid.

Eight. LeMarcus Aldridge. Texas. This 6’10” 230 lb. sophomore Power Forward is growing into his body right now. He has the quickness, and ability to change games. 61% FG shooter for his college career.

Nine. Adam Morrison. Gonzaga. The first guard or small forward we list is the 6’8” scorer that has an uncanny knack for hitting all his shots anywhere close to the basket. He has as advanced a mid-range game as I’ve seen.

Ten. J.P. Batista. Gonzaga. Dependable Batista may play the Lonny Baxter role the Bulldogs. He is a 6’9” 269 lb Power Forward that never takes a bad shot.

Eleven. Brandon Roy. Washington. …6’6” 200 lb. guard can play either position in the backcourt. He takes charges. He scores. He makes smart decisions. I am a big fan of Brandon Roy.

12. P.J. Tucker. Texas. …6’5” 220 lb. forward plays an ‘old-school’ game. He rebounds, scores, and competes getting more than he should out of his frame.

13. Brad Buckman. Texas. 6’8” 235. Buckman is a scrapper, banger that leaves it all on the floor. He has a real nose for the ball.

14. Joey Dorsey. Memphis. 6’9” 265. Dorsey is as big as a house. He dominates in the paint – shooting 65% FG this season.

15. Shawne Williams. Memphis. 6’9” 230. Freshman is exciting to watch. He has a nice shooting touch and can finish in traffic.

16. Rudy Gay. Connecticut. 6’9” 220. The prototype shooting guard. Gay is explosive and has length. He makes plays NBA players make.
