| Brackins, Craig | Iowa State | 6'10" | 229 | PF, SF | Jr. | Brackins is billed as a inside-outside threat but the truth is - he simply has to be a better perimeter shooter to have any chance of surviving in the NBA. He shot 29% from deep for his three-year career. That does not translate well. That said, he has done better in shooting drills in workouts - so maybe there is hope that will turn into the coveted 'shooter with size'. ...I'm saying he is more of a Power Forward. And what we wind up with is a guy that doesn't really like to play close to the hoop. ...He is a good athlete that is quick off his feet. He is long - with a standing reach of 9'1". My biggest concern is - how in the heck does a guy with a 9'1" standing reach only shoot 45% FG for his NCAA career? The answer is a combo of poor shot selection, a lack of inside grit, and being the focal point of opposing defenses. Also on the negative side - Brackins had more turnovers than assists. ...He has active hands inside - which worked in college in the Big Ten but in the NBA I have my doubts about his ability to be effective due to his career efficiency rating of .507 - which is fine for a SF but not so great for a big man. ...He averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in 2009-10. ...In his very first Big 12 game vs. Baylor - Brackins had 33 points. |
Where do I expect Brackins to be taken? Somewhere around 34th.
Our best advice: In 2003 - the 34th pick was Sofoklis Schortsanitis. We said - "take Kyle Korver".
Our worst advice: In 2006 - the 34th pick was Paul Davis. We said - "take P.J. Tucker".
