| Bradley, Avery Jr. | Texas | 6'3" | 180 | PG, SG | Frosh. | Bradley is one of the toughest guys in this draft to gauge. He is a right handed Point Guard that is primarily a defender at this stage of his career. He showed an ability to hit spot shots, and make energy plays. He can get his own mid-range shot. Good ball handler. He can and will push the tempo. But overall - he just didn't give Texas much offensively. ...Is he the next Nate McMillan? That would be very good if he could carve out a career like Nate did as a defender and utility guard. By the way McMillan's career NBA numbers were: 5.9 points, 6.1 assists and 1.9 steals. That is how I view Bradley right now. Some saw him as the #1 prospect in the 2009 high school class (yes - ahead of even John Wall!). However - as a freshman at Texas - Bradley struggled. His efficiency rating was a putrid .363 for the season. That said, Bradley did display the ability to defend opposing Point Guards very well. He makes plays at NBA speed and is said to be a good kid that works hard on his game. ...He is a good athlete with a 37.5" vertical jump. His free throw shooting was horrible at Texas; just 54%. …Will he ever have the offensive game to succeed in the NBA? He is an NBA caliber perimeter defender right now but his offense is suspect. |
Where do I expect Bradley to be taken? Somewhere around 20th.
Our best advice: In 2002 - the 20th pick was Kareem Rush. We said - "take Carlos Boozer ".
Our worst advice: In 2001 - the 20th pick was Brendan Haywood. We said - "take Joe Forte".
