Gbinije, Michael  Syracuse 6'7" 205 SF SR. Gbinije impressed us each time we saw him play. He has great speed and the ability to guard positions one through three. Gbinije averaged 17.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. Gbinije is a year older than the class of 2016. He played in 2011-12 at Duke and then sat out a year before starting his three year run at Syracuse. Gbinije improved each season. His biggest weakness is his inconsistent perimeter shooting. He shot 38% 3-pt, last season but he converted just 62% of his foul shots. Gbinije owns a 1.51-to-1 assist to turnover ratio which is not point guard worthy. He could play some PG in a pinch but we think small forward will be his best position. Defensively, Gbinje is hard to judge because he played in the 'Cuse zone for three seasons. His DEFRTG was worse than the Syracuse team DEFRTG, which leaves me skeptical. ...Gbinije jumped with a 37.5" max. vert. at the NBA Draft Combine. Gbinije posted the fasted 3/4 court sprint time (3.12 seconds). ...I see Gbinije as a possible backup wing in the NBA. He is already 24 years-old.

In 2009, the 40th pick in the NBA Draft was Derrick Brown. We advised, "Draft Danny Green."
