NBA Draft Scouting 2002
17. Jared Jeffries
Indiana 6'11" 230 SF - Soph.
BIG 10 Player of the Year. 2nd Team All-America. Right hander is best without position labels. He is just a basketball player. 6'11" with handles, scoring and passing ability. Averaged 15 pts., 8 reb., 2 ast., showing his versatility. Relative to the NBA, he is not a good shooter. 67% from the line. 38% from the college arc. He is a finesse type pleyer, smooth. Has good defensive timing. Does not have great speed. ...He blocked 46 shots as a Sophomore. Jeffries had 24 points and 15 rebounds in the Hoosiers' 74-73 upset of top-ranked Duke in the NCAA Tourny, South Region semifinals. ...He could post in college, and ala Tim Duncan, hits shots off the glass. Measured 6-feet-11, 230 pounds with a 7-foot-1½ wingspan at Chicago pre-draft camp. Will need to bulk up for NBA duty. ...Was high-school product of Bloomington, IN, where he was the State's Mr. Basketball. Former McDonald's All-America. That's a lot of headlines.
