Jones, Damian  Vanderbilt  7'0" 244 C jr. Jones left one year early from Vanderbilt. He has a BIG NBA body. Jones averaged 13.9 points, and 6.9 rebounds in 2015-16. He doesn't shoot the three-ball at all (0-3 3-pt fg). His free throw shooting is challenged too at just 56% FT (career). Jones also struggles as a decision maker. He had more than two turnovers for every single assist. ...He lumbers a bit for a guy with a 37" max. vert. and a good 3/4 court sprint time. The 37" max. vert. is the same number posted by Quincy Acy and Maurice Harkless. ...Jones doesn’t have great hands. He CAN score in the low post. He shot a career 56.6% FG. ...Jones has a standing reach of 8'11" (same as Udonis Haslem, Michael Beasley, and Darrell Arthur).  On defense, Jones is good. His DEFRTG was better than the Vandy team DEFRTG. Jones does a solid job as a shot blocker. ...The consensus sees Jones as a late first round pick. We think there are better prospects too be had at that point. Because Jones has so far to go with shooting, and having a true feel for the professional game, it is our opinion that he is a career backup BIG.

See Jones at work.

In 2006, the 34th pick in the NBA Draft was Paul Davis. We advised, "Draft P.J. Tucker."
