NBA Draft Scouting 2002
16. Freddie Jones
Oregon 6'4" 218 PG, SG - SR.
Sturdy, 6'3 1/2" frame, tremendous quickness and speed. Right hander, takes it to the hoop with authority. He can finish in traffic, dunking on larger men. Fearless. Did not show clutchness vs. Cal, missing two shots to win, but rebounded with game winning runner at USC 02/28/02. Ready to help right now. He hits the offensive glass, jumps well. ...I love Freddie Jones! Averaged 19 pts., 5 reb., and 3 ast. as a SR. Excellent free throw shooter at 87%. A man with with his speed, power, and touch combination is rare. He has the power and explosion of Baron Davis. He is more two guard than point guard. He rebounds well for a guard. He can score in bunches. Jones improved dramatically last season playing two guard. At 6'2", his frame is built well enough to handle the gig. For his Oregon career, ranked in the top 10 in eight different categories. He has long arms. His standing reach of 8'4" is 4 inches higher than Matt Barnes who stands 6'8".
