6. Chris Kamen - Central Michigan 7'0" 252 - C - Jr.
The quick facts. This big dude was nearly unstoppable as a Junior at Central Michigan. He averaged 22.7 PPG, on 62% FG shooting, and a fantastic 75% from the line. Says, Kamen, to ESPN.com, "I don't want people to ever compare me to Greg Ostertag, Bryant Reeves or Todd MacCulloch," Kaman said. "They can't move, and they don't move well. I think I move real well. I want to be able to be about 270 pounds with good footwork, good hands and good coordination. I don't want to just be a guy who can grab rebounds and score on putbacks because of my size. I want to be an all-around impact player." …He also hogs rebounds at 12 per game, and nearly 4 of those boards are on the offensive glass. He also blocked 3 shots per game. ...He has mobility, touch, and strength; that's the combo that makes this 260 lb. kid so intriguing. As a sophomore he was good but not nearly as productive. 11.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore. ...As a Jr., honorable mention All-America selection by the Associated Press this past season. He was named the 2003 Mid-American Conference "Player of the Year," "Defensive Player of the Year," and MAC tournament MVP. Kaman led the nation with 25 double-doubles. In 24 minutes against Ball State he scored 39 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in front of 11 NBA scouts. ...Says Kamen's college coach, Jay Smith, "If Chris is playing the way he's supposed to play, people are going to see a very agile, quick 7-footer. He can alter shots. He has a variety of post moves inside and at times you'll wonder if he's right or left handed. He makes free throws. And he's a guy that when he's double- and triple-teamed, he'll pass it out." ...Short arms for a tall guy, wingspan is 6'11"
