Layman, Jake  Maryland 6'9" 209 SF SR. Layman checks off many boxes when it comes to the proper tools for a wing forward in the NBA. He is athletic (39.5 max. vert.). He can finish in transition, and he can shoot the three. Layman averaged 11.6 points (50% FG, 39% 3-pt, 83% FT), and 5.3 rebounds per game as a Senior on a loaded Maryland team. His defensive rating was just slightly better than the Maryland team DEFRTG. Layman's wingspan is 6'9.25" (same as Omri Casspi, and Reggie Williams) ...Layman is the kind of guy that fits into a TEAM concept. He finished tenth in the Big Ten last season in boxscore plus/minus. ...Layman's weaknesses include having more turnovers than assists, and sometimes failing to look for his own scoring opportunities. He is a consensus late second round pick which sounds about right to us.

In 2003, the 49th pick in the NBA Draft was James Jones. We advised, "Draft Kyle Korver."
