NBA Draft Scouting 2002

40. Elvin Mims

So. Miss. 6'6" 211 SG, SF - SR.

Right handed scorer. …Like most scorers, Mims can heat up in a hurry. He has a nice post game, and a sweet fadeaway. Good athlete, has 38" verticle which was 3rd best at Chicago Pre Draft camp. …But the big news came in the form of his standing reach measured at 8'10" or about the same as Drew Gooden. He takes VERY good care of the ball. ...Rarely turns it over. ...USM coach James Green, says, "There's no doubt that Elvin has NBA ability. He's a two guard who'll fit in well with any NBA team. He has great shooting range and can post up inside.” The last So. Miss player to make the NBA was Clarence Weatherspoon.

Looking Back to 1999
