| Pittman, Dexter | Texas | 7'0" | 303 | C | SR. | Although he had a rough 2009-10 season, Pittman is a college hoops success story. He lost 80 lbs. to get into playing shape and now he is scratching the surface of what is possible for his game. He can score with his back to the basket and he eats up space for rebounds. He has great hands and he is nimble and enthusiastic. If he gets deep post position - forget it. He WILL score! In particular - he has a nice right handed half-hook. That shot is money. He also uses his left hand well around the hoop. ...I love his play in the paint as a scorer and although I am a fan of his coach Rick Barnes - I often felt that Pittman was under-utilized in the Texas offense. He powers though any contact. ...In the 2009 Big 12 Tournament - Pittman averaged more than 20 points and 10 boards a game. ....Still has a ton of work to do as he turns it over three-plus times for every assist. ...Only a 61% FT shooter. He is slow in "show and recover" situations. Transition defense is also an issue. He is foul prone. His wind is not good and he played in 3-5 minute stretches only at Texas. ...A bit of a 'happy-go-lucky' kid which hurts his game because he really needs to demand more touches in the paint. As a rebounder - he has an uncanny knack of very quickly (not just for his size) getting the ball back up after he grabs it. ...As a freshman he weighed 366 lbs. …Pittman's Dad Johnny is a 7-footer who played at Oklahoma State from 1989 to 1991. |
Where do I expect Pittman to be taken? Somewhere in the late second round.
Our best advice: In 2008 Reggie Williams went undrafted. We had listed 40th.
Our worst advice: In 2000 We listed Harold Arceneaux 23rd. He went undrafted.
