NBA Draft Scouting 2002

15. Tayshaun Prince

Kentucky 6'10" 215 SF, SG, PG - SR.

Wooden Award finalist. SEC Player of the Year as a Jr. …Versatile, lanky, lefty, is a scorer, and ballhandler that also blocks shots. As a wing player, he blocked six shots in Feb. vs. LSU. …Again, emphasize his ability to handle the ball. Has a great crossover dribble. Body is slight, similar to Geroge Gervin. ...He likes to go left, likes to take a big shot. He's calm, unselfish, smooth, and clutch. Recognized as leader at Kentucky, winning their team leadership award. He has an "old school" game, understanding the basics of offensive flow very well. ...His shot is good but not great, 70% free throw, 47% FG. His length is a huge asset, allowing him to finish plays others can't, and get his hands on opponents shots. ...Can lead a break and make the right decision. He does look to get his own offense off, which makes him effective. Tough matchup. His left handed half-hook is hard for any three to control, let alone a two. ...Has deep shotting range, and can come off a screen and hit.
