NBA Draft Scouting 2002

53. Kareem Rush

Missouri 6'6" 199 SG - Jr.

Younger brother of former UCLA player, Jaron Rush. ...Kareem is a scorer with good quickness, and a nice stroke. He shot only 43% as a Jr., his percentage dragged down by so many three point attempts. Beyond the arc, he hit 41%. ...77% FT shooter. Rush needs to work on moving without the ball. He turns the ball over more than he gets assists. …He defends pretty well. …Has quick reactions and blocked 22 shots last year. ...Mostly, a guy like Ron Mercer, that scores off his own dribble. Rush does compete hard, and when he is going, he can become very confident, and offensively effective. Lefty. He strongly prefers to go left. He is mature, and calm on the floor. ...Has a sweet fadeaway jumper, and is very adept at nailing running jumpers. ...Showed toughness playing after thumb surgery in his sophomore season.
