| Sims, DeShawn | Michigan | 6'8" | 235 | PF | SR. | Sims has an NBA body and can guard either Forward position. He is a right hander that can score - even hitting shots on the move. Strong enough to finish plays inside. ...Scores quickly around the hoop. ...In college he scored almost anytime he got deep position in the post. He helps on the offensive glass. His outside shooting is a work in progress and that is the issue for Sims. His inefficiency as a three-point shooter means that he really needs to play Power Forward offensively. He just isn't a strong enough rebounder (relative to NBA PF's) to excel at that position. Also - Sims does not get to the free throw line enough. To cement the fact that he has a LONG way to go to be an effective NBA player, he has more turnovers than assists. ...So -- I see Sims as a possible late, late second round pick that can provide some scoring off the bench. If he makes the NBA - it will be due to his potential as an athlete going forward and also due to the fact that he tried as a Senior to be more of a power player. |
Where do I expect Sims to be taken? He will most likely not be drafted.
Our best advice: In 2002 - Udonis Haslem went undrafted. We had him as the 18th pick.
Our worst advice: In 2001 - We had Nakeia Miller listed 22nd. He was not drafted. (Miller is now playing in Asia.)
