| Thompson, Deon | North Carolina | 6'8" | 245 | PF | SR. | In each draft there are certain players that have one thing they do so well - that as a scout - you are certain that, at the very least, that one thing done well will translate to the NBA. Such is the case with Deon Thompson's baseline face-up game. He can shoot the 12' to 19' baseline jumper as efficiently as anyone. Unfortunately - Thompson overall has big holes in his game. He doesn't get to the free throw line enough, and he is turnover prone. His FG% of .496 is solid but his FT% of .655 could both be better. ...He is a quick jumper. A real pogo man. Has a nice turn around jump shot. ...Thompson is very experienced - having played not only in a ton of big games for North Carolina but as a member of Team USA in the 2009 World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia. He was USA's second-leading scorer (9.6 per) and rebounder (5.9) in the seven-game tournament. ...Was a member of the National Championship winning Tarheel team of 2008. ...Thompson is from Torrance, CA. |
Where do I expect Thompson to be taken? He will most likely not be drafted.
Our best advice: In 2006 - Adam Morrison was the 3rd pick. We said, "take Tyrus Thomas."
Our worst advice: In 2001 - Bobby Simmons was the 41st pick. We said, "take Nakeia Miller."
