Vasquez, Greivis Maryland 6'7" 211 PG, SG SR. Vasquez is a passionate leader and Point Guard that was named ACC Player of the Year in 2009-10. He is the only player in ACC history with 2,000 points, 700 assists and 600 rebounds. He averaged 19.5 points, 6.2 assists and 4.6 rebounds this season. ...Has a versatile overall game that netted him triple doubles at Maryland. He is not a great athlete so he relies on crafty moves to score or set up teammates. ...Plays solid on-ball defense. I like him because of his desire and his precision passing. He plays hard. He can knock down a perimeter shot - even when well contested. ...He moves well without the ball. ...On the downside - Vasquez plays "home-run ball" too often. He is too willing to try for the spectacular play. ...Coach Gary Williams says, "Greivis has a South American and European approach to the game. He brings explosiveness and is a well-rounded guard who is a good ball handler, but also rebounds and defends well." ...Kevin Pritchard of Portland says, ..."Love his height, love his size. He's got great basketball IQ. He knows how to run a pick and roll. Will need to get a little bit better on defense, but he'll be interesting in the NBA. He's a point guard. He's got tremendous size for the position." ...Played in high school with Kevin Durant of Texas at Montrose Christian. ...I think Vasquez will get it done wherever he plays because his will to compete is so strong. He has worked hard to become a more skilled player and his perimeter shooting is money. Not that Steve Blake (another former Maryland PG) has torn up the NBA - but he's clearly held his own. Vasquez is by far the superior player.

Where do I expect Vasquez to be taken? Somewhere around 41st.

Our best advice: In 2005 - the 41st pick was Roko Ukic. We said - "take Ryan Gomes".

Our worst advice: In 2001 - the 41st pick was Bobby Simmons. We said - "take Nakeia Miller".
