NBA Draft Scouting 2002
25. Frank Williams
Illinois 6'3" 205 PG, SG - Jr.
Low-key, crafty guard, is a terrific athlete, and great defender. Plays the passing lanes very well with exceptional quickness. He can get it done at either end of the floor. Has excellent court vision, and is unselfish. He plays smooth, and can break you down on his dribble drive, or hit a perimeter shot. Williams has the ability to take over a game. His first step is so good, he went to the line 24 times in a game vs. Arkansas this season. He is a good shooter, 80% from the line, but needs to mature in his shot-selection as most young guards do. He does use the rim very well. ...Quick hands, and long arms. Standing reach measured 8'4" at Chicago. ...Seems to thrive in Big-Game situations, making some question hs "everyday" competitiveness. He has the tools for sure. He shot better than 40 percent from the floor only once in three seasons at Illinois. ...He leads a break very well, and has composure around the basket. Former McDonald's All-America is athletic enough to dunk in traffic. He can get any shot he wants, anytime. Great ball handler. He wants to score more than most point guards. Williams described himself as "a more athletic point guard, a defensive stopper who likes to penetrate, an unselfish player."
