April 20, 2007 ...The list of those who played in all 82 NBA regular season games is here. ...The Kings fired Eric Musselman today. After a 33-win season Geoff Petrie made the decision to let Musselman go with two years remaining on his contract. In that regard—it makes you think he really wanted Musselman out. I’m not close enough to know what really went down but it must be beyond the obvious. I repeat that I never thought the Kings had a playoff roster. They did what I expected. Brad Miller and Mike Bibby were worse than usual, and the Kings played without a Center all year. I did think Musselman was too quick to play Corliss Williamson, and not quick enough with minutes for Francisco Garcia. But I can’t blame the losing record on the coach from where I sit. Ron Artest is a huge distraction for any leader. Moody cats like Kenny Thomas, Kevin Martin, and Bibby can’t be easy to deal with either. ...What is done is done. So—now who coaches the Kings? You will hear about P.J. Carlesimo. He and Petrie might enjoy some fancy dinners but I have never been a P.J. guy. I would like to see a short-list of these guys interviewed: Terry Porter, Scott Brooks, Len Elmore, Reggie Theus, Rick Barnes, Michael Cooper, Mario Elie, and Marc Iavaroni.

March 27, 2007 ...Jack Haley needs to calm down. He went off on the Lakers after their loss at home to Memphis. Haley does studio work on the Fox Sports West Lakers post-game. ...I saw a good show on CSTV with college coaches Bruce Pearl, and Dave Leitao as guests in a show hosted by Tim Brando. Marques Johnson was also a part of it. The show focused on the Final Four teams with each of the experts chiming in with their take on teams and personnel. They praised UCLA point guard Darren Collison as being a great on-ball defender. ...Pau Gasol may be the most underrated basketball player in the world today. ...Nene has played better this season than I thought he could. ...I think Eric Musselman deserves some slack. He is getting hammered in the Sacramento paper.
