BasslineSpin.com May 30, 2007 ...Kobe Bryant would be very difficult to trade. I
don’t see it happening. I think you will see Mitch Kupchak leave
the Lakers before Kobe does. ...The Spurs are pretty good huh? They just
demolished the Jazz in five games. For the record—San Antonio has TALENT.
They have three players rated in the top five at their respective
positions—in Tony Parker (fifth),
Manu Ginobili (third),
and Tim Duncan (second).
May 20, 2007 ...Each
year we look at the NBA’s final four teams and see what position the highest
player by efficiency is ranked. This scientific exercise is especially vital
for all teams, and their fans that have ‘pie in the sky’ dreams of winning
right now. The reality almost every year we do this is that if a team doesn’t
have at least one player that is ranked very high at his position—then that
team will not be in the final four. Okay - let’s start with the Spurs. Tim Duncan ranked SECOND at Power Forward this
season. The only player ranked higher at PF was the Jazz’ Carlos Boozer. In the East, Cleveland’s Lebron James ranked SECOND at Small Forward, while
the Pistons Chauncey Billups was
the SEVENTH rated Point Guard. ...So I conclude again that if you do not have
a player rated in the top seven at one of the five basketball positions - you
cannot make the NBA’s final four. Here are the rest of the teams that have
the window open… Suns - Steve Nash #1 PG,
Heat - Dwyane Wade #1 SG,
Lakers - Kobe Bryant #1 SF,
Rockets - Yao Ming #1
Center, Warriors - Baron Davis #2 PG,
Nets - Jason Kidd #3 PG,
Nuggets - Carmelo Anthony #3 SF,
Dallas - Dirk Nowitzki #3 PF,
Memphis - Pau Gasol #4
Center, Timberwolves - Kevin Garnett #4 PF,
New Orleans - Chris Paul #4
PG, Washington - Gilbert Arenas #5 SG,
Toronto - Chris Bosh #5
PF, Orlando - Dwight Howard #6 C,
Clippers - Elton Brand #6
PF, Boston - Paul Pierce #6 SF,
Seattle - Rashard Lewis #7 SF,
New York - David Lee #7 PF,
and Charlotte - Emeka Okafor #7
C. …That leaves seven teams that do
not qualify. These teams should be rebuilding: Sacramento, Portland, Indiana,
Philadelphia, Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Chicago. |
